The Large Animal Science Program prepares you in all aspects of the large animal industry with special interest toward the Equine and Ag-Business fields that offer numerous career pathways. A special focus on horseback riding skills and experiences in Western and English disciplines will prepare you for showing and competing. You will get to work with large animals on a daily basis.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Animal Anatomy and Physiology: Explore the structure and function of the major organ systems as well as the function of blood flow in animals. Apply these structures and functions to the animal industry.

Equine Selection and Management: Identify and apply responsible animal science principles and management practices to horses such as nutrition, selection, reproduction and best practices for care and training.

Business Management: Develop business plans, financial reports and strategic goals for new or existing businesses. Use marketing concepts to develop a plan with channels, product approaches, promotion and pricing strategies.

Animal Science and Technology: Apply principles in nutrition, feeding, and caring for animals. Investigate animal genetics and how it impacts principles of animal improvement, selection and marketing.
