Cosmetology Opens Salon to the Public

The senior Cosmetology students from Grant Career Center, supervised by instructor Janelle Baudendistel, will open their salon for business on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. Current salon hours are 11:30 AM to 2:15 PM, Tuesdays through Fridays.

The salon offers a wide variety of services, including haircuts, color, perms, waxes, facials, and manicures. Conditioning treatments, highlights, lowlights, shampoos, and sets are also available. Clients are charged a minimal cost to cover expenses.

The school is located west of Bethel on State Route 125 with the salon entrance in the front of the building. For an appointment, clients should call 734.6222, extension 5.

The salon provides students with exposure to clients and with practical experience to help them pass their state board exam for licensure and prepare for the working world. Cosmetology senior Candice Kirtley said, “I am most excited to open the salon so that I can make people feel good about themselves. I am also looking forward to being creative and showcasing my skills.”

Senior Cosmetology students have worked in the salon during their junior year and enter their senior year experienced and confident. They are all quite excited to get their senior year underway and greet clients on opening day! Senior Hope Roush feels that the best part of the salon opening is meeting new people every day. “I like seeing the clients walk out of the salon with a smile on their face and know that I had a part in their look!”

Many clients have been visiting the Grant Career Center salon for years. This year, Grant Cosmetology graduate and instructor, Janelle Baudendistel, is eager to see former clients and welcome new ones. “I have come full circle in my profession. This is where I learned my skills and now I can share them with a new group of excited students. We invite the public to stop in and find a beautiful new look.”
