Veterinary Science
The Veterinary Science Program is designed to give you a head start towards a
career in the veterinary field. Veterinary science students handle and provide care for
a variety of animals each day. The hands-on experience gives you comfort and
confidence around a variety of different animal species.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Animal Anatomy and Physiology: Explore the structure and function of
the major organ systems as well as the function of blood flow in animals.
Apply these structures and functions to the animal industry.
Companion Animal Selection, Nutrition, and Mgmt: Apply animal
science practices to companion animals that include nutrient utilization,
breeding programs, facility/housing design, meal plans, training and
general care practices.
Veterinary Science: Investigate causes, symptoms, and treatment
of common diseases and develop preventative health management
plans which include pharmacology, radiology and imaging techniques,
principles of surgery and laboratory skills.
Animal Health: Perform animal health assessments. Utilize technology
to manage information and research issues affecting the industry.
Investigate pathogens and classify types of diseases and disorders.
