Information Technology is one of the most dynamic career areas involving the multi-faceted
IT industry. Students have the opportunity to gain both knowledge and hands-on experience with
computers, networks, and programming. Students acquire the necessary skills to build, repair,
and troubleshoot computers and networks as well as object-oriented programming and database design.
Students can leave the program with multiple industry certifications.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Information Technology: Develop a working knowledge of computer
concepts and essential skills necessary for work and communication in today’s
society. Learn about input/output systems, computer hardware and operating
systems, and office applications.
Computer Software: Apply knowledge and skills of commercial and open
source operating systems in portable, stand alone, and networked devices.
Install a variety of operating systems manually and using remote assistance.
Learn to configure, modify, and troubleshoot operating systems
Network Operating Systems: Perform desktop client administrator duties
by providing support for users in various work environments. Learn to install,
configure, and update commercial and open source network operating systems.
Object-Oriented Programming: Represent programming concepts as
“objects” that have data fields and methods. Implement classes such as
support static, instance method, inheritance, polymorphism, exception
handling, and object serialization.
