Grant Career Center Students Educated in Flag Etiquette:

This Thursday, January 24, 2019, Grant Career Center will welcome former Army chaplain and Vietnam War veteran Bill Graybill from American Legion Post 180 in Georgetown, Ohio, as he demonstrates the approved method for retiring American flags that are no longer deemed  suitable for display.

The U.S. Flag Code states that “the flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”  Grant's Military Pathway Group, as well as students attending their Government classes, will have the opportunity to witness this event that will take place on our campus located at 718 W. Plane Street in Bethel.

Sophomore Days

Sophomore students from the four home schools recently visited Grant Career Center for Sophomore Days and participated in activities in three different programs of their choice.  Staff and students planned great hands-on activities to keep the sophomores engaged.

It was a positive experience for all involved, and our current students really stepped up their teaching skills and presented their programs in the best lights.

On December 5, we will be hosting a Sophomore Open House from 5:00pm - 8:00pm.  For more information, please contact us at 513-734-6222.

Sophomore Days

On Nov. 19 and 20 Grant Career Center will be hosting sophomores from our associate schools to tour our programs.  Grant Career Center high school students will have alternative assignments on those days and will not be in session at Grant.  Grant students that have a letter from the school stating they are helping showcase their program during the sophomore visits will be attending Grant on those days stated in the letter.  If a high school student does not have a letter they do not report to Grant's campus on Nov. 19 and 20.  There will be no bus service from the home schools to Grant Career Center on those two days.

Environmental Biology Field Trip

It was a beautiful day for learning and experiencing science outside the classroom! Last week Mrs. Weis' Environmental Biology Classes toured a wastewater treatment plant, visited and talked with scientists at an EPA run Experimental Stream Facility.  From there, students tested the water quality of the EFLMR (at Sycamore Park) through biological, chemical and physical assessments.

OSBA Honors Grant Board Member

Mr. Ron Diver and Mr. Scott Huddle from the Southwest Region OSBA attended the Grant Board of Education meeting on June 20, 2018 to recognize Mrs. Beth McManus for her fifteen years of service as a school board member.  Beth has served on both the Grant and Williamsburg Boards during the past fifteen years.

The Grant staff and administration join OSBA with our genuine thanks for her dedicated service and invaluable contributions.  Mrs. McManus has always been a strong advocate for continuous improvement in student learning.  I think you will agree that with board members like Beth there is no limit to the future of our students and our community.
