After 39 of service to Grant Career Center, Superintendent Kenneth Morrison has announced his plans to retire in July 2013. Ken started his career with the U.S. Grant Joint Vocational School District in 1974 as the director of the newly formed vocational school district in the southern portion of rural Clermont County. He directed the building of the school from the ground up, designing programs, outfitting labs, and filling the chairs with students. He became the Superintendent in 1980 at the age of 34. He is currently in his 32nd year as Superintendent.

Celebrating the spirit of the wonderful community which we serve, Grant Career Center invites the public to the Annual Community Appreciation Dinner, sponsored by the Culinary Careers Department, to be held Saturday, April 20, from 5 to 7 P.M. in the Career Center cafeteria. Staff and students will work together to prepare a Ham and Chicken Buffet that includes chef's vegetables, numerous salads, dinner rolls, homemade desserts, and beverages. 

The Grant Career Center Horticulture students are busy preparing for the spring bedding plant season by transplanting, fertilizing, and moving up plants into their final growing containers. The students, under the direction of instructors Gary Broadwell and Nancy Weis, are growing a wide selection of vegetables, annual and perennial flowers, and hanging baskets for your gardening enjoyment. Many new varieties have been added this year and customers are encouraged to shop early for the best selection.

Grant Career Center inducted twenty-nine new members into the Elizabeth Abbott Chapter of the National Technical Honor Society on March 1, 2013. Membership in the National Technical Honor Society is dependent upon outstanding characteristics in many areas of a student’s life.  In addition to scholarship, the students are rated on such qualities as leadership, service, citizenship, skill, honesty, and responsibility. Students are expected to achieve in all areas before membership is extended by the Society.  

Recently, staff from Grant Career Center visited with all of the Sophomores in the district to help with the career exploration process. Students participated in an interactive presentation as they recalled past career exploration activities, discussed their current academic strengths and weaknesses, and looked at their future plans. Students heard about career pathways available at Grant, and the students selected four career training programs to visit during the week of February 25, 2013.
