Grant Career Center proudly recognizes the 161 seniors who completed their career training requirements and earned their career and technical certificates from the Career Center.  The students received their diplomas from their home high schools of Bethel-Tate, Felicity-Franklin, New Richmond, or Williamsburg.
The Senior Recognition and Award Ceremony was held at the Bethel-Tate Middle School on Tuesday, May 24, 2011.  Students, parents, guests, and Career Center staff celebrated the academic achievements of the students as they completed the secondary phase of their education.  Students received their Career and Technical Education Certificates and Career Passports in the ceremony that concluded their training at Grant.

Seven adult students recently graduated from their nine-month Computerized Business and Medical Applications program at Grant Career Center to begin new careers. Their studies prepared them for positions as administrative assistants, receptionists, medical and dental record clerks, or a myriad of other office positions where their new skills could shine. In addition to providing technical computer skills, this program includes job-seeking skills, resume writing and preparation, and the opportunity to receive Microsoft Office Specialist 2007 Certifications.

The Culinary Careers Program at Grant Career Center is happy to announce the opening of the Sports Gallery Restaurant at the Career Center on Tuesday, September 20, 2012.  The Sports Gallery will be open to the public on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays each week. Lunch hours are 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Twelve Cosmetology II students from Grant Career Center, supervised by Sue Goodman, senior instructor, opened their salon for business on September 13. Current salon hours are 11:30 AM to 2:15 PM Tuesdays through Fridays.

As students in the Grant Career Center Auto Collision program learn new skills, they practice in their lab on full size cars, panels, and doors. Dent removal, filler applications, sanding, welding, and painting can be seen on a daily basis in the lab. To showcase their newly perfected skills, the students dropped down in scale to model cars. Students list their favorite cars and the instructors search through mountains of models at the Ben Franklin store in Bethel.

Every year the Grant Career Center Student Advisory Council sponsors a Food Drive to provide food baskets and holiday essentials to families in need at the Career Center. Each class works to provide a happy holiday for families and to make sure that all members of the Grant family have an enjoyable holiday season.

Grant Career Center Teacher Academy students recently participated in a professional development workshop featuring nationally renowned speaker Ann Anzalone. Nine Teacher Academy members attended the seminar along with other students from across the region. The seminar, held at Clark State College in Springfield, Ohio, included a presentation titled, “Developing Minds One Student at a Time.” This presentation addressed the impact of brain research on child development and learning theories.

Grant Career Center recently held the First Quarter Attendance and Awards Assembly where students were recognized for achievements during the first quarter. Students received Perfect Attendance Awards and Honor Roll Certificates for their efforts. The Top Performers in each program were also announced for the first quarter.

Following the research data collected last year, we are shifting our career exploration focus to the middle school grades, specifically the eighth graders of our district.

In early November, all eighth graders viewed a presentation showcasing all the programs and activities of the career center. Students filled out an interest survey and selected the program that most interested them. Using survey information, the students were all scheduled into three programs to visit on their Career Exploration Day at the Career Center.
