Grant Career Center's Greenhouse
The Grant Career Center Greenhouse to open to the public throughout the year. As part of their curriculum, the Horticulture students having projects growing in the greenhouse year round. Instructed by Gary Broadwell and Nancy Weis, the students showcase their lessons and new skills in the projects that they raise. Students also take care of the school grounds and grow many of the plants used in that endeavor.
The winter holiday season promises a wash of reds and pinks as the poinsettia crop comes into maturity. Students also have freshly made wreaths and centerpieces for sale. Call the greenhouse for prices and availability.
The spring bedding plant season opens April 18, 2008 with a huge variety of annual and perennial flowers, hanging baskets and vegetable plants. The greenhouse is open each school day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For your convenience, the greenhouse will remain open until 6 p.m. on Thursdays throughout the season. The greenhouse will also be open 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, April 19th during the Community Appreciation Dinner. The greenhouse will close for the season on May 21, 2008.
